MLC Wealth hires operations, technology lead from UK insurer

MLC Wealth has appointed Darren McKenzie as their new Cheif Technology and Operations Officer. He will commence in March.

McKenzie comes from RSA Insurance, where he was the COO for the UK insurer's domestic and international operations.

MLC Wealth CEO, Geoff Lloyd, said McKenzie's appointment adds to the diversity of skills and experience on the company's leadership team. "Darren is a highly accomplished executive with more than 20 years' experience defining and delivering strategic transformation across technology and operations in financial services organisations."

McKenzie will report to both NAB group chief technology and operations officer Patrick Lloyd and the MLC CEO until MLC's legal separation from NAB. Said Lloyd, "As we continue to prepare for separation, Darren's deep experience across technology and operations will enable us to deliver strong capability to support the business. We look forward to him joining us in March."

Prior to joining RSA Insurance as COO, McKenze was chief information officer at Banco Santander's consumer banking business in Frankfurt where he lead the organisation's German banking platform transformation. He was also chief information officer at Alliance & Leicester and director of IT operations at Egg.

"[McKenzie] is well regarded as a strong leader with an ability to create long-term customer-focused solutions to complex business challenges," concluded Lloyd.
