MLC Wealth appoints Group Executive, Platforms

Executive Move

MLC Wealth has announced the appointment of Darren Stevens as group executive, platforms, effective January 2020.

Stevens will join MLC from Mercer Australia, where he is currently head of corporate superannuation. In this role, he is responsible for products and platforms for Mercer Super Trust, Mercer Portfolio Service and third-party administration for corporate super funds.

Stevens has three decades' experience in the global financial services sector. Before joining Mercer in 2018, he was director of product management and strategy at Bravura. Before that, he held senior roles at ING Australia and Tower Australia Limited.

Commenting on his appointment, chief executive officer of MLC Wealth, Geoff Lloyd, said: “Darren is another highly experienced executive who will bring valued expertise at a critical time for our business. His passion for clients, technology and the opportunities in our Platforms business to better deliver for our clients will serve us well as we continue to strengthen MLC ahead of separation from NAB."

Stevens' appointment follows the recent appointments of Andrew Morgan as chief commercial services officer, Anthony Lane as chief operating officer, Garry Mulcahy as group executive, asset management, and Tim Steele as group executive, retirement & investment solutions. Appointed earlier in the year, were Mark Baxter as chief risk officer, Kylie Smith as chief client digital & marketing officer, and Shenaz Waples as chief human resources officer.

Two positions are still to be filled on the ten-strong MLC Wealth team.
