Norman Zhang will depart Media Super after more than eight years with the organisation. The industry fund has announced that former LUCRF head of investment strategy Michael McQueen will take over the role in mid February.

Zhang joined Media Super first as an asset consultant for Frontier and then directly in 2017. Before that, Zhang was a consultant with the accounting firm Ernst and Young.

In a statement to Industry Moves, chair Gerard Noonan and CEO Graeme Russell paid tribute to Zhang's excellent strategic and operational approach, wishing him well on his next journey.

Zhang says that he will depart Media Super in March to take up a similar position at legalsuper, a role which has been vacant since the departure of Edward Smith in October of 2019.

legalsuper CEO, Andrew Proebstl, said that Zhang has the capability and alignment with the fund's values. "[It] was the genuine passion he showed in our discussions for taking advantage of the unique opportunities available to smaller funds to identify and capitalise on innovative and niche investment approaches in ways larger funds can't that set him apart," said Proebstl.
