Daniel Madhavan has left Impact Investment Group (IIG) after more than three years in the top job.

IIG executive director Danny Almagor said that Madhavan advised he planned to leave late last year. "Since then, we have been collaborating on how best to set up a smooth transition that positions IIG for its next chapter. That he offered to do this is a sign of his character and commitment - and I thank him for it."

Madhavan previously was the chief operating officer of JBWere and briefly held the role of acting chief executive, looking after the firms 450 staff across nine offices in Australia and New Zealand. In all, Madhavan spent more than 12 years with JBWere.

Following his departure from JBWere, Madhavan spent several years as CEO of the not-for-profit Impact Investing Australia and took on a board position at poverty alleviation group YGAP.

IIG has announced that it will shake up the organisation's leadership by having Almagor step into the executive chair role and bringing in former NAB group CEO Andrew Thorburn as a part-time executive during their transition.
