Lorraine Berends to join Qantas Super board

Qantas Super has announced the appointment of Lorraine Berends as a company-appointed board director, effective May 2019.

Berends, who is an actuary and investment specialist with over 35 years' experience, has held executive roles at National Mutual and Marvin & Palmer Associates and served on the boards of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia and the Investment Management Consultants Association. Currently, she serves as a director on BT Financial Group's superannuation board and is a member of QSuper's investment committee.

Berends and fellow new company-appointed board director, John Atkin, will fill the vacancies left by long-serving chair, Anne Ward, and former director, Paul Costello.

In welcoming both new directors, Qantas Super chief executive officer, Michael Clancy, said: "We're thrilled to have candidates of such high calibre and look forward to John and Lorraine helping our members feel confident in their financial future so they can enjoy retirement."
