Longtime Prime Super chair, Alan Bowman, is retiring after 19 years as a director. He has been chair for the rural and regional-focused industry fund for the last nine years.

Former RACQ chair Nigel Alexander has been named the new chair for Prime Super.

In a statement, Alexander says Bowman's leadership set Prime Super up for lasting success.

"I would like to thank Alan Bowman for his exemplary leadership of Prime Super. He has steered the Fund through two significant mergers over the past five years and ensured it is not only a financially sustainable organisation, but that it is on course for continued growth.

"It is also important to recognise the major contribution of David Cooper, who has retired from the board of the Fund after ten years as a Director and over two decades of involvement with the Fund in other capacities. And to acknowledge the contributions of Gary Bonello and Ray Russell, who assisted with the transition of Prime Super's merger with Combined Super last year.

"I am fortunate to be taking on the role of Chair in these exciting times," said Alexander.

Prime Super's most recent merger was with Combined Super in 2018, bringing their FUM to more than $5 billion.

In 2014, Prime Super was one of a handful of funds that did not have a female director on their board. Bowman made it a point to encourage the addition of female leadership following their merger with HIP Super in that year.
