Local Government Super CEO departs fund

Executive Move

Local Government Super (LGS) has confirmed to Industry Moves the resignation of chief executive officer, David Smith.

A spokesperson for the fund said: "David thought it was the right time to move on, and LGS wishes David well in all his future endeavours."

Smith joined LGS in September 2017 from AXIS Specialty Australia, where he served as CEO from 2011 to early 2016. Prior to this, he was CEO of Zurich Financial Services.

LGS deputy CEO, Donna Heffernan, has now stepped into the role of acting CEO, a role she previously held following the March 2017 departure of Smith's predecessor, Peter Lambert.

Commenting on her appointment, the spokesperson said: "The Board, with full confidence, has appointed the Deputy CEO, Donna Heffernan, as Acting CEO. The Board is committed to delivering the best retirement outcomes for the members of LGS, and to reaching its strategic goal of $15b in FUM by 2021."
