QIC has announced the appointment of Ian Martin as the firm's new chair, effective 1 April 2019.

Martin has over 30 years' experience in the investment management, superannuation, investment banking and financial services sectors and is currently chair of both UniSuper and the Wayside Chapel in Sydney. Previously, he served as chair of Argo Investments and as chief investment officer and chief executive officer of BT Financial Group.

Commenting on his appointment, QIC CEO Damien Frawley said: "Mr Martin is a high-calibre Chair and Executive with a long and successful career in the financial services. He is well versed across a number of our asset classes and I look forward to working with him."

Martin added: "I've long admired QIC as a leader in the alternatives space and as one of Australia's largest institutional investment managers. Martin succeeds Don Luke, who has served as QIC's chair since 2013.
