Household Capital, an independent, specialist retirement funding provider, has announced the appointment of Mario Garrido as the firm's chief marketing officer.

Garrido, who is one of three new marketing and technology hires, joins Household Capital from AustralianSuper, where he was head of brand, retention, & direct growth strategy. His background includes consumer marketing and customer experience roles at organisations including Village Roadshow, Nova FM and Telstra.

On his appointment at Household Capital, Garrido said: "After almost five years at Australia's largest super fund, I learned that super savings and the Age Pension will not be enough for most Australians to live an adequate or comfortable retirement."

He added: "Joining Household Capital for me means continuing the battle for retirement adequacy, helping Australians thrive in retirement by unlocking the benefits of their hard work in savings in their homes through their working life."

In welcoming him to the team, Josh Funder, Household Capital's CEO said: "Mario's expertise with direct marketing and customer experience will help us take our message to a larger number of Australia's retirees."

Garrido will be joined by Matt Chalmers in the role of chief technology officer, and Brenton Kaitler as manager of program & platform.
