GESB, the $27 billion super fund for government employees in Western Australia, has appointed Ben Palmer as CEO, effective 4 July 2018.

Palmer first joined GESB in December 2012 as a senior investment strategist. He was appointed as the Fund's general manager, investments in March 2017 following four months of acting in the role. He was also the acting CEO from 30 January 2017 for six months and from 1 February 2018 for a further five months.

Palmer has over 16 years' experience across the superannuation and investment management professions. Before joining GESB, he spent eight years with Schroders in London, most recently as executive director and head of portfolio management for the group's UK private wealth business, and previously as asset allocation strategist specialising in the not-for-profit sector.
