APPOINTMENT
FINANCIAL SERVICES COUNCIL
Date: November 2020
Position: Chair

The Financial Services Council has appointed Mercer Australia CEO David Bryant as its new chair.

Bryant replaces Geoff Lloyd, who stood down following his resignation from MLC Wealth.

"I leave the FSC board in good hands as David has made a significant contribution as my deputy and as an FSC director over many years, and is a very experienced and respected leader in financial services, as CEO of Australian Unity, and now Mercer Australia," said Lloyd.

FSC CEO Sally Loane welcomed Bryant to his new role. "On behalf of my team, I want to warmly welcome David, an experienced and collaborative leader, to the role of Chairman, and look forward to another era of working productively for all of our members across superannuation, life insurance, funds management and advice."

Bryant first joined the FSC as a committee member in 2009 and became a director in 2013. In 2019, he was named deputy chair. He left Australian Unity in July after more than 16 years with the organisation, serving as chief executive and chief investment officer during his tenure.

Challenger managing director and CEO Richard Howes has also been elected to the FSC board, replacing Challenger's CFO Andrew Tobin, who is stepping down in November.
