Former Premiere, NAB customer chief joins Fund

Former New South Wales Premier and NAB chief customer officer Mike Baird has joined the Government's Australian Business Growth Fund (BGF) as chair.

The Fund, which was encouraged by the Government and bolstered by an investment of $100 million and features equity funding from major banks including ANZ, CBA, NAB, and Westpac, was launched in October.

In announcing the appointment, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said that Baird will replace the fund's inaugural chair, Will Hodgman.

Baird was appointed CEO of HammondCare in September of this year. He spent three years with NAB in several c-suite roles including chief customer officer for corporate and institutional banking and chief customer officer for consumer banking. He's also held coprate finance and institiotnal banking roles at Deutsche Bank and HSBC.

Most notably, Baird was the 44th Premier of New South Wales, representing Manly. He was treasurer from 2011-2014 when he became Premier.
