ClearView Wealth has appointed former OnePath and Zurich head of mental health and wellbeing, Maria Falas, to a newly-created role in the organisation, as head of life strategy and transformation.

In her new position, Falas will be involved in the development and implementation of ClearView's life insurance strategy as well as spearheading business improvement initiatives. She'll report to ClearView's life insurance GM, Gerard Kerr. "The life insurance industry is undergoing enormous structural and regulatory change, making it critically important for life insurers to have experienced people with fresh ideas in key roles.

"Maria is a respected professional who has successfully led strategic change across the life insurance value chain and has driven operational innovation. She is a high performer with a proven track record for delivering results and achieving strategic goals."

Fallas spent more than 16 years between ING, OnePath, and Zurich, going through two acquisitions. During that time she held various risk management and governance roles before moving into client solutions and, in 2017, the mental health and wellbeing segment.

Before moving into the financial services and insurance space, Falas spent several years as a practising lawyer with Ashurst and Ebsworth & Ebsworth.

Of her new role, Falas said, "ClearView is a purpose-led organisation with a clear vision and goals, and it is an exciting time to come onboard to support the ClearView business to capture opportunities to grow, creat streamlined processes, and enhance the customer experience."

Falas left Zurich at the end of 2020 after developing the organisation's return-to-office strategy.
