Blue Sky Alternative Investments (Blue Sky) has appointed Andrew Day, former chief executive of Hastings Funds Management, as the firm's new chair, effective 26 November 2018.

In a statement to the ASX following its AGM, Blue Sky said that Day will commence as an executive chair and will resume the role of non-executive chair following the appointment of a new group CEO.

Day has held director, chief executive and managing director roles in the financial services, telecommunications and infrastructure sectors across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Europe. He served as chief executive and executive director of Hastings Funds Management from 2011 to 2017, a role which Blue Sky said will be "invaluable as he leads [the firm] into its next chapter."

Day succeeds John Kain who announced in May 2018 that he would step down as Blue Sky chair at the conclusion of the AGM. Kain will continue as a director on the board.

Blue Sky has also announced that Byron Beath, MD of Oaktree Capital, will join its board following a shareholder vote which will permit Oaktree Capital to convert its loan to an interest in Blue Sky.
