Ellerston Chief Economist to join Yarra Capital

Yarra Capital Management has announced the appointment of Tim Toohey as the firm's head of macro and strategy.

In this role, Toohey will work closely with the fixed income and equities teams, advising on both the outlook for financial markets and asset allocation, the firm said.

Toohey joins from Ellerston Capital, where he was chief economist of the Ellerston global macro team. Before that, he spent 15 years as chief economist and head of macro strategy Australia and New Zealand at Goldman Sachs.

In welcoming him to the firm, Yarra Capital Management managing director Dion Hershan said: "We're delighted that Tim is joining Yarra Capital Management. Beyond being one of Australia's most highly regarded economists, he is well known to us and someone we held in very high regard while working alongside him for more than a decade at Goldman Sachs.
