Former ClearView General Counsel joins PayPal

Elizabeth Briggs, former general counsel and joint company secretary at ClearView, has commenced a new role as director of legal, Australia at PayPal.

Briggs joined ClearView in early 2012 as legal counsel before being promoted to head of legal in October 2015. She was promoted again, to her most recent role, in April 2018.

Of her time with ClearView, Briggs said via LinkedIn that she is "proud and grateful for the opportunity to be involved in building the leading diversified financial services company in Australia."

She added: "Thank you to the best legal and company secretariat team I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. Your dedication, loyalty, hard work and friendship far outreach anything I could have ever hoped for."

Of her role at Paypal, which commenced on 29 July 2019, she told Industry Moves: "I am excited about joining PayPal and assisting PayPal Australia across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters".

ClearView is currently in the process of recruiting a new general counsel and company secretary. Athol Chiert, who served as joint company secretary with Briggs, will continue in the role, the firm said.
