Former BTFG platforms head to lead Spitfire

Spitfire Corporation has announced that John Shuttleworth has been appointed as its new Sydney-based chief executive officer.

Shuttleworth previously spent 15 years as a senior executive and member of the management team at BT Financial Group, most recently as general manager, platforms and investments.

Commenting on his appointment, Spitfire executive director and founder, Laurence Milne, said: "With significant technology, industry experience and connections, John is ideally suited to lead Spitfire as we move from a start-up culture to a focus on major strategic developments along with delivering strong operational results. John will bring fresh insight and a proven track record of achievement for shareholders."

Shuttleworth said that the immediate focus will be on "commercialising the Investment Platform (IDPS) while building out the superannuation and pension offer in Australia and exploring international opportunities for the global platform."

Matthew Johnson, who was appointed as the firm's inaugural CEO in June of this year, and led the business through its integration with WealthTrac, will move into the new role of general manager, distribution.

Spitfire has also announced that Peter Wilson, director of advisory firm wilsonemmett, will join as a strategic adviser and member of the executive leadership team.
