Former BNY Melon country head joins Westpac

Former BNY Melon country head Phil Filippelis has joined Westpac as director for global investment services NSW.

Confirming the move, a Westpac spokesperson said Philippelis will report to state director of global investment services Mark Sherwood. "He is a highly experienced professional with expertise across credit, real estate, private equity, hedge funds, equities and structured products. His global experience and strong technical skills will be highly valued by our clients. Throughout his career he has also had significant experience in a business development capacity which will greatly assist the expansion of our wealth proposition."

Filippelis was the country head for BNY Mellon Investment Management for more than five years. He spent four years as the managing director at Angelo Gordon, and was the managing director and country head for Société Générale from 2002-2010.

Global investment services sources, selects, and monitors multi-asset class and multi-currency investments for high net worth clients of the private wealth and business division.
