WA LOCAL GOVERNMENT SUPERANNUATION PLAN
Date: February 2018
Position: Director - Independent

WA Super has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of Ken Evans to its board as an independent director, effective February 2018.

Evans joins the $3.5 billion fund following its merger with Concept One this month. He joined the Concept One Board in 2009 and became its chair in 2013.

Evans has 30 years' experience in both the government and private sectors, including senior positions in the WA Department of Education and as the WA Electoral Commissioner.

Joining Evans on the WA Super board is Angela Briant, who has been a director on the Concept One board since November 2015.

Commenting on their appointments, WA Super CEO, Fabian Ross, said: "Every member of our Board plays an important role in guiding our business. I'm looking forward to welcoming the new Board members, and leveraging their extensive skills and experience. 2018 is an important year for WA Super as we deliver our strategic initiatives, which continue to be centred around helping our members achieve their retirement dreams."

Evans added: "Concept One was producing good returns for its members and operating effectively but the Board could see that it was too small a fund to be viable in the changing superannuation environment. We were delighted with the opportunity to merge with WA Super as most of our members are West Australians. Their money is being kept in WA and they will receive good returns and top quality service from Perth based WA Super.

Their appointments bring the board to ten members.
