Club Plus Super (CPS) has announced the appointment of Janet Torney as its new chair.

Torney succeeds Tara Moriarty, who stepped down from the board in May 2019 following her election to the Legislative Council in New South Wales.

Torney has served as a trustee director of CPS since October 2015, as chair of the fund in 2016, and as deputy chair since December 2016. She is a professional director, chairing Whitehelm Capital, Girl Guides Australia, and the audit & compliance committee of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation.

Club Plus Super chief executive Stefan Strano said of her appointment: "Janet has excellent experience in a broad array of roles within the superannuation, investment and member-based industries spanning more than 30 years. With her expertise in governance, strategy and risk management, Janet has played a large role over recent years in driving significant enhancements to the governance structure of CPS through her work on our Risk & Audit, Remuneration, and Investment Committees."

CPS has also announced the appointment of Steve Whan as deputy chair and Susan Weston as a member elected representative.
