Citi has promoted John McLean, currently head of capital markets origination for Citi Australia and New Zealand, to managing director and head of global asset managers for Asia Pacific.

In his new role, McLean will be responsible for growing the bank's global asset manager relationships across the APAC region.

"John is one of Australia's most experienced and trusted capital markets and M&A advisers and is the right choice to deepen and grow our asset management client base in the region," said APAC head of banking, capital markets, and advisory Jan Metzger.

Citi's head of Australian banking, Tony Osmond, said, "While we will miss working with John every day, he leaves behind an experienced team who have distinguished themselves executing on a range of significant equity offerings in recent years."

McLean has been the head of capital markets origination for nearly a decade.
