Cbus chief technology officer Rob Pickering is set to depart the organisation.

As first reported by Financial Standard, Pickering will leave in mid-October.

"We thank him for his contribution to the fund and wish him well in his next endeavours," a spokesperson for the fund said.

He will become the general manager of technology for the AFL.

"I'm immensely proud of what the team at CBUS have achieved over the last nearly three years and feel very confident that they're positioned to continue the great successes well into the future," Pickering wrote on his LinkedIn profile.

"I'm also very excited for the challenges at the AFL, moving into a new industry but continuing to work in 'for purpose' organisations that have a positive social impact."

Pickering has held tech and IT roles in a variety of industries, coming from Open Universities Australia and utilities provider Service Stream before that.
