CBA Wealth Management COO appointed acting COO at CFS

Colonial First State (CFS) has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of Michael Venter, currently chief operating officer of wealth management at Commonwealth Bank (CBA), as CFS' acting chief operating officer.

The appointment follows the July 2019 departure of CFS executive director Linda Elkins who has commenced a new role as national sector leader, asset & wealth management at KPMG. Pending the appointment of Elkins' successor, Venter will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CFS business, a spokesperson said.

Venter joined CBA in January 2004 and has since served in a number of senior roles, including deputy chief financial officer and as the Hong Kong-based CFO of CBA's International Financial Services division. He was appointed COO wealth management in September 2017.

In other leadership changes at CFS, former general manager, distribution Peter Chun has been appointed general manager, strategy and transformation.
