Commonwealth Bank Australia (CBA) has announced the departure of group chief financial officer (CFO) Rob Jesudason, effective immediately.

Jesudason departs, after less than 12 months in the role and more than six years with CBA, to pursue a new opportunity in Hong Kong.

CBA has announced that Alan Docherty, CFO institutional banking and markets, has stepped in as acting group CFO.

Jesudason joined CBA in December 2011 as group executive, group strategic development and in November 2014 he was appointed as group executive for international financial services, based in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining CBA, Jesudason worked for Credit Suisse where he was head of global emerging markets. He previously worked at JPMorgan, where he was a managing director in the Asian special situations group and he was also the global head of corporate development at Barclays.

Commenting, CBA's CEO, Matt Comyn, said: "I am very pleased to have someone of Alan's calibre and experience step in to act as our Chief Financial Officer while we complete an internal and external search for the role. We are making good progress with the renewal of the bank's executive team and I expect to provide an update on appointments to my leadership team in the coming weeks."
