Commonwealth Bank has announced changes to its group executive leadership team, including the resignation of the group executive for business and private banking.

"The decision to leave CBA has not been an easy one," said Adam Bennett in a statement. "It has been a great privilege contributing to the Bank over the past 15 years through a number of diverse business and technology leadership roles. I am proud of the progress we are making to create a simpler, better bank for all of our stakeholders."

Adam Bennett had been with the organisation in a variety of roles since 2004, including chief information officer for the retail and business banking divisions. He was appointed group executive in 2015.

CBA CEO, Matt Comyn, praised Bennett's contributions. "Adam is a highly respected leader whose banking and technology expertise has helped deliver many innovative digital solutions for our customers."

Comyn also recognised the personal contributions Bennett has made to the company's leadership team. "We thank him for his commitment to our customers, the way he has led his teams with integrity and accountability, and the support and counsel he's provided to me and his peers on the Executive Leadership Team. We wish him all the very best for the future."

Bennett has not announced where he will be headed next.

The new group executive for business and private banking comes from FNB Commercial Banking in South Africa, Mike Vacy-Lyle.
