CareSuper has announced the departure of Cate Wood as chair of the $14 billion fund, following the completion of her four year term, effective 1 April 2018.

Wood will continue to serve on the CareSuper board for the remainder of her directorship term, and will end her 17-year tenure as a member elected representative in the near future.

She has previously held executive positions as CEO of AGEST Super and The Trade Union Trading Authority and currently sits on the boards of Industry Super Australia, the Mother's Day Classic Foundation and Women in Super, where she is also national chair.

She has been replaced as chair by former deputy chair, Terry Wetherall.

A statement from the fund on Wood's departure said: "Our thanks are extended to outgoing Chair Cate Wood. Cate has made an outstanding contribution to CareSuper throughout her tenure as Director and particularly as Chair. She championed several initiatives to strengthen the Fund's governance practices, led the Board through change and tenaciously represented our members' best interests."
