Most recently, he served as chief executive officer at Aspen Group where he was appointed in September 2016 to rebuild the group and its portfolio. Before this, he held leadership roles at Aberdeen Asset Management and JP Morgan in London and AMB Capital Partners in Sydney.

Commenting on his appointment, Blue Sky executive chair Andrew Day said: "The board is excited to welcome Joel as CEO. We are confident that Joel has the right combination of experience in asset management and rebuilding businesses to lead the company through its next transition."

Following Cann's appointment, Day, who was appointed as executive chair in November 2018, will revert to the role of non-executive chair.
