Austrade CEO to step down

Dr Stephanie Fahey, chief executive of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, will step down on 10 July 2020.

"As CEO, Dr Fahey has overseen a number of important initiatives within Austrade to better support Australian industries and exporters," said Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Simon Birmingham. "Under Dr Fahey's leadership, Austrade undertook a comprehensive organisational review that has helped to strengthen its service delivery capabilities and client focus.

"During Dr Fahey's tenure, Austrade has also supported the Australian tourism industry with enhanced data analytics to identify and respond to emerging tourism trends. This work will be important as our tourism industry emerges from its greatest ever challenge."

An educator by training, Fahey joined Austrade in 2017 from EY where she was the Oceania lead partner for education. She's also held roles at Monash University, the University of Sydney, and Victoria University.

Deputy CEO Tim Beresford will act as CEO while the organisation searches for a permanent replacement.
