Date: April 2021
Position: Chair

ASX chair Rick Holliday-Smith is set to retire from the board in April.

Holliday-Smith joined the board in 2006 and has been chair since 2012. The departure isn't a surprise, as Holliday-Smith signalled his intentions when he was re-elected in 2018.

"I have enjoyed my time at both ASX and the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) before that, and I am proud of what ASX has achieved in the vital role it plays at the heart of Australia's economy," said Holliday-Smith. "ASX is well-posititioned to continue to create value for the long-term. Not just for its shareholders, but for the many stakeholders that trust in ASX's integrity, resilience and competitiveness."

Holliday-Smith holds several other directorships, including Cochlear Limited. He left the Servcorp board last April. During his executive career, he was the CEO of futures and options trading with Chicago Research and Trading and was managing director of Hong Kong Bank Limited in London.

Holliday-Smith will be replaced by fellow board member Damian Roche, who had kind words for his predecessor. "It is an honour to be elected Chairman of ASX and to follow Rick, whose achievements are impressive. ASX, its shareholders and directors have benefited greatly from his leadership."

Roche will take over the chair position on 21 April.
