Adrian Stewart has joined Allianz Australia Life Insurance as its acting chief executive officer.

He's replacing Matthew Rady, who is leaving the business.

Stewart comes from PIMCO where he was most recently the head of client management for APAC excluding Japan. Before that, Stewart was the organisation's head of Australia and New Zealand. During his time with PIMCO, Steward founded Allianz Retire+ and has served as a board member since 2018.

Allianz Australia Life Insurance chair David Plumb said, "In appointing Adrian as acting CEO, the Board is instilling a proven leader with a deep understanding of the worldwide capabilities of the Allianz Group in retirement income and life protection solutions. Adrian's strong track record in growing client-focused financial services businesses in the Australian market keenly positions us for significant growth."

On his appointment, Stewart said, "Since launch, the team has built a strong market presence and established key distribution channels. Our focus will be to continue this momentum, ensuring we offer our partners a broad suite of innovative and market-leading products.

Before joining PIMCO, Stewart was a division director with Macquarie Group and held business development roles with Challenger Financial Services and Asgard Wealth Solutions.
