Paul Costello, the founding chief executive of the Future Fund, has lost his battle with cancer.

His family have asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Dr Ben Solomon's research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on this link: https://foundation.petermac.org/paul-costello

Earlier this year, Dr Solomon managed to secure access to a new drug, outside the clinical trial system, which gave Costello a reprieve from his battle with lung, brain and liver cancer.

Costello and Dr Solomon then spoke at an event In August, hosted by the Future Fund, about Costello's journey and what they hoped to achieve through a fund-raising campaign.

Costello is survived by his wife, Denise, and their two adult children.
