Industry Moves celebrates its 3rd Birthday and announces some exciting new developments

Industry Moves turns three!

Here at Industry Moves we're fastening our party hats and popping champagne, because this week we're celebrating our 3rd Birthday! Since launching in 2014, we have reported on 4,564 moves, from 2,880 people across 622 organisations - that's a whole lot of phone calls! We've also conducted over 360 interviews, discovering the many quirks, talents and pearls of wisdom that those in the industry have to offer.

As we bring you our 147th newsletter, we look back on our most popular posts and also announce some exciting developments we have in store for the very near future.

Move that received the highest clicks

Damian Graham

In December 2016 First State Super announced its new Chief Investment Officer, Damian Graham, following the departure of former CIO Richard Brandweiner. This move received the most clicks in Industry Moves' three year history.

Commenting on his move being 'the most clicked', Damian said:

"In the words of Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson when he won People Magazine's top gong - "How cool and exciting is this, I really have reached the pinnacle. The question is where, to from here?""

"On a more serious note, congratulations to Industry Moves on your 3rd birthday and thanks for the contribution you make to our industry. My first few months in the role have given me a good sense of the strength and capability of our investment team. I am excited about the strategy we are developing together and the opportunity we have to help our members achieve a better outcome in retirement."

Q&A that received the highest clicks

Fiona Trafford-Walker

It's no surprise that the Q&A that got you clicking the most was with Frontier Advisors' very own director of consulting, Fiona-Trafford Walker. In an open and honest Q&A, she told us about her most treasured 'possession', offered her advice for women in the industry and spoke about her most "memorable" employee at Frontier.

Commenting on her Q&A being 'the most clicked', Fiona said:

"Given the number and the calibre of people Industry Moves has featured over the last three years it's very humbling to think that there was such a high level of interest in what I had to say! The real strength of our industry is the people that work in it, so well done to Industry Moves for shining a light on so many different professionals from across the various sectors."

Blog that received the highest clicks

Rob Holt

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the blog post that interested you most was not about someone in the finance industry, nor was it about the industry at all, but instead a personal account of tenacity and generosity. We interviewed The Wayside Chapel's former visitor (client) and volunteer, Rob Holt, who was appointed to the role of Community Educator at the iconic Kings Cross charity in 2015. In an eye opening interview, Rob shared his experience of homelessness and addiction, the role that Wayside played in his recovery, and his initiative to raise awareness and compassion for those doing it tough on the streets.

Commenting on his interview being the 'most clicked blog post', Rob said:

"I think that's mad! I truly didn't realise that would resonate with people so much and I'm so stoked to hear that people enjoyed it. In the last two years I've changed a lot. My team here at Wayside have given me so much confidence, taught me to believe in myself, and to own what I have achieved."

"My role has also changed, we're booking far more corporate education and school education programs now - and I'm even working on developing a tour for Bondi. My highlight has been working for my manager, the Head of Marketing and Fundraising at Wayside, Laura. She has been my boss, but also my sister, my mentor and my friend."

The celebration continues with some exciting new announcements...

We are delighted to be launching our new Products & Services newsletter next week, with a round-up of publicly released launches for the insto and retail finance industry during January & February 2017. Delivered in the same format as our weekly Industry Moves newsletter, this monthly round-up is designed to keep our 6000+ readers informed of industry developments. Look out for it in your inbox next Monday, and, in future, on the first Monday of each month. We hope you will find it both informative and interesting!

Products and Services newsletter

But wait, there's more!

Next month we'll be revamping the Organisation pages on Industry Moves and categorising all organisations by sector. On top of this, more and more organisations are choosing to add their key contacts and profiles to their pages, complementing the existing list of appointments and departures for the previous two years. These features are designed to provide our readers with easily accessible and valuable information on organisations and their executive staff. How good is that!

And look how we've grown...

The last three years have been a blast and we're excited to share our stats since launch and are confident that these will continue to grow in 2017 and beyond.
